Anything Sydney based producer KLP decides to put her hand to, she excels at. Having already begun to make her mark on the Australian music scene with numerous remixes and collaborations as well as her own tunes, KLP is not only a producer and songwriter extraordinaire but is also high in demand as a DJ and hosts triple J’s house party on the side. Having already collaborated with big names such as Skrillex (USA), What So Not (AUS) and Banvox (JAP), KLP is well on her way to cementing her spot in the world of electronic music. New single ‘Recover’ really showcases her energetic vocals and features Melbourne lyricist Remi in a nicely executed hip hop verse.
‘Recover’ kicks off with a vocal hook that is dynamic and vibrant and forms the base of the track, continuing throughout including running subtly underneath Remi’s spirited and snappy contribution. Beat driven and punchy ‘Recover’ is full of attitude and strength. Addressing ex-friends or lovers who have tried to hold her back, KLP hits back with lines such as ‘when it comes around, be sure to kiss the earth below my ground’, and ‘1, 2, 3, 4, bet you didn’t see me coming back for more.’ Bold lyrics such as these combined with a fairly summery but still strong vibe has allowed the track to turn out to be justly self-assured as KLP has refined and perfected the song. It’s a very well-constructed way to hit back at the haters.
There are many tunes that you can grow to love, but it’s rare to find a gem that stands out straight away. KLP is consistent in delivering quality music however ‘Recover’ is a standout. I’d highly recommend kicking off your summer by catching her remaining KLP Party shows this month or see her supporting Texans Neon Indian in December, because if her releases are anything to go by, her sets will be powerful and incredibly enjoyable.
