Weekly Jams no. 21

Handpicked and curated with love, Weekly Jams is a playlist of all the best music that’s just dropped. This edition sees a few entires from the next wave of hip hop, as well as some stellar shoegaze inspired tracks from a bunch of local artists.

DIVES – FRESH AIR (ft. aj the aged one)

Dreamy, shoegazey vibes and brave lyrical content that openly discusses challenges with mental health. An important track from the new Sydney artist.

ARTHUR WIMBLE – IT BREAKS

An 8 bit inspired dream from the anonymous Brisbane producer.

NGAIIRE – HOUSE ON A ROCK

With every release, Ngaiire adds to her soulful and powerful songwriting arsenal. Sophomore album Blastoma (dropping next week) is set to be huge.

OH PEP! – Doctor Doctor

Youthful, indie pop at it’s finest. A cut from their debut record that’s not too far away, Stadium Cake.

CYMBALS EAT GUITARS – Wish

Punk rock sensibilities with a rousing saxophone riff. This is the dream.

BARO – wdubi (ft. Nasty Mars and Marcus)

Another innovative cut from the next generation of Australian hip hop.

HOLY BALM – Fashion

Rejoice! The Sydney trio have returned with their synth driven house stylings in tow. This is just the first taste of upcoming record, Activity.

SET MO – comfort (ft. FRACTURES)

Warm feels in spades. The result of a cross-city collaboration between Sydney’s Set Mo and Melbourne songwriter/producer, Fractures.

WHY WE RUN – HALLWAY

Of all things, a marimba riff is the driving force of this dark and brooding track. Another slice of Why We Run’s long awaited debut, Holograms, due out on June 24th.

SLOWCOACHING – Night Fiction

Jangly and dreamy, with waves of synth and pleasant vocals laid on top. Not unlike DIIV and co.

LOYLE CARNER – stars and shards

Sparse instrumentation and a solid flow. There’s a reason why Loyle Carner has been touted as one of UK’s most exciting up and comers.
