MUSIC NEWS

With fires ripping through WA, Southbound Festival was called off and a relief was quickly put together to raise funds for those affected. Kudos to the wonderful folks who put it all together and to the performers who played, raising a total of $150,000 for those in need. Stay tuned for further details related to a fundraising auction.

Josh Pyke is actually Latin for ‘top bloke’. The folk singer-songwriter is joining up with APRA for the new Josh Pyke Partnership. Winners will receive $7500 to give their careers a boost and will be mentored by Pyke himself. If this seems like something you’d be keen for, head here[www.joshpyke.com/projects/jp-partnership] for more info.

PBS 106.7 have announced the line-up for their annual week of live-to-air goodness, Drive Live. This year’s performers are diverse and definite fun, ranging from the quirks of Sui Zhen to the crunchy attitude of Wet Lips to the eerie assemblages of Waterfall Person. Read the complete line up here.

Fans of heavy tunes may either be devastated or delighted to hear that Unified has sold out for January 2016. The festival will be headlined by hardcore touchstones Parkway Drive, cushioned by a solid line up of Australian and international acts.

If you’re attending Sugar Mountain next Saturday the 23rd, make sure to check out the set times before the day! (That is, if you’re a very picky and exact person like myself who must plan the day down to the minute.) Furthermore, Wrangler have teamed up with The Salvation Army and put their Denim Exchange slap bang in the middle of the festival! If you have any preloved denim, take them over to the stall and have them swapped for a new piece of Wrangler denim wear. All exchanged denim will be donated instore to The Salvos alongside a bunch of new Wrangler products.
