Instead of taking a minute’s silence for Brisbane’s nightlife post lock out laws, the city is going to have a night of partying on Friday 1st July Brisbane’s Big Kick On. It has been described as “the only way to simultaneously get lit while also giving a giant middle finger to the powers that be”, with entry to all four hosting venues free upon signing an anti-lockout law petition. Do you ever listen to a tune and suddenly you’re crying and picturing your wedding day which is a bit odd because you don’t even believe in the social institution of marriage? Well, that’s Frances’ ‘Don’t Worry About Me’ for you. The British sing-songwriter will make her first trip to Australia to play United Paddington Church, Sydney on Thursday 16th June.


Big Scary have announced the release of their third record Animal for Friday 2nd September. Yes, it’s far too long a wait but we shall just have to manage. Pre-order here.


Electronica duo Gypsy & the Cat will power through with their third album Virtual Islands, released on Friday 5th August. Stream their most recent single ‘I Just Wanna Be Somebody Else’ here.


Wooo hooo free shit! Mushroom Group have announced one amazing competition, the prize being access to some of Australia’s biggest tours. The winner will receive tickets to every Frontier tour and a day on the green in their chosen city, plus a double pass to Melbourne’s Sugar Mountain. Kathleen Hanna’s most recent project, The Julie Ruin sees her working with Kathi Wilcox, Carmine Covelli, Sara Landeau and Kelly Mellman to make ridiculously fun yet defiant pop-rock tunes. Their new record Hit Reset will hit shelves/the internet on Friday 8th July, but you can get a taster with new single ‘I’m Done’ here.

Former Batrider frontwoman Sarah Mary Chadwick will release her fourth solo album Roses Always Die on Friday 5th August. Listen to sentimental new single ‘Makin’ It Work’ here.


Following his support slot with collaborator Wafia New Zealand songwriter and producer Thomston will play his first headline shows this month. Catch him at Shebeen, Melbourne on Wednesday 29th June, and at Newtown Social Club Sydney on Thursday 30th June.


Stuart Park, Wollongong will host Yours & Owls Festival on October 1st and 2nd. However, the line-up shall remain shrouded in mystery until June 14th. We’ll keep you tuned! Another festival date to pencil in your diary is Australia’s biggest BYO camping festival Jungle Love Festival, taking place on November 25th to 26th.


Fantastically fun pop duo Tees will bring their new track ‘Got The Feeling’ out on tour, taking it to Rad Bar, Wollongong on Friday 8th July and The Oxford Circus, Sydney on Sunday 9th July.
