In what has become true Young Franco style, the young DJ/producer has released yet another cracker of a track just in time for summer. Teaming up with fellow Brisbane artist Blair De Milo, Young Franco has just shared new single ‘Don’t U Want Me’, while simultaneously announcing his first national headline tour.
The first time I came across Young Franco I was attending one of his shows with a fellow CBB reviewer at Melbourne’s notorious Revolver. I don’t remember having any need to go to Revs at a time that isn’t a ridiculously late/early hour on the weekend, so attending a midweek DJ set there was unusual. Franco, however, dropped consistently great tracks and remixes that his entire audience lapped up. Everything from Miley Cyrus to Flight Facilities to his own tracks, Young Franco showed no sign of slowing down. Tipped as ‘one to watch’ by us as well as other reviewers, it is no surprise that a year and a half on, Young Franco has continued to make waves.
‘Don’t U Want Me’ is absolutely no exception. Full of slick beats and slightly futuristic synth sounds the track begins in a quietly unassuming way with Blair De Milo’s R&B style vocals entering the mix smoothly and then lifting the mood significantly when he bursts through with chorus and helps lead the track into a rhythmic and soulful vibe. Premiering on triple j in Australia and THUMP worldwide, Young Franco’s new song is positive and lighthearted even when it asks the tough questions. ‘Don’t you want me baby, what do I have to do to make you want me like I want you to?’
Also available to stream on Soundcloud and Spotify, the track is easy accessible to a wide audience of new and old fans and is sure to get you having it on repeat while you dance around your living room choosing your outfit for drinks in the sunshine.
